Bogie Open Wagon ‘BOXNHL’
The BOXNHL wagon is an open gondola that is primarily used to carry bulk commodities that can be carried in an open top wagon; e.g. coal, limestone, iron ore, coke, and some bagged commodities. These wagons are made of ferritic stainless steel. They can carry 71.08 tons of cargo. A rake is composed of 58 BOXNHL wagons. These versatile wagons belong to the “BOXN” family of wagons. The “BOXN” family of wagons are one of the most common wagon types found on Indian Railway tracks.
- Open gondolas are general purpose wagons. General purpose rakes are inducted under GPW Investment Scheme of Indian Railways.
- Rakes in the GPW segment are majorly used in the cement, steel, and other metals industries, thermal power plants, and coal and iron ore transportation from the mines and ports.
