The Switching Operator is responsible for the movement and spotting of railcars in a safe and timely manner according to operational needs.

- Work with Repair Center Manager, ME, and other key roles to efficiently move, switch, and spot cars in the plant and/or yard. Work with production to create and execute the plan for movement and placement of cars in the yard and work centers.
- Maintain switching equipment per preventative maintenance schedules.
- Assist with plant railcar repair work or other maintenance when necessary.
- Interact with supervisors, EHS and Quality managers, railroad agents and customers. The primary area of impact for this position is safe movement of railcars and timely movement to meet production needs.

- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion (or ability to complete shortly after hire) of GATX Switching Certification
- Ability to read, access and interpret switch diagrams, Excel spreadsheets, and company policies.
- Ability to work well with others in a positive manner.
