What is RailPulse™?

RailPulse™ is a coalition formed by GATX Rail North America and other rail industry stakeholders to create a new telematics platform for the rail industry.

The platform will facilitate and accelerate the adoption of telematics across the North American railcar fleet to improve safety and visibility, which we believe will make it easier for our customers to ship by rail.

GATX was one of the five founding members of RailPulse™, and the coalition has now grown to include 11 companies who represent over a third of the North American railcar fleet.

With a particular focus on safety, including handbrake and impact data, with the goal to provide even more meaningful insights into rail performance.

RailPulse™ Objectives

Create an information infrastructure that enables data from GPS and sensors mounted on railcars to drive improved service levels, visibility, safety, and productivity into North American rail-based supply chains

Use this information infrastructure to drive growth in North American freight rail volumes

Transform the customer experience with a platform that will benefit everyone in the rail industry, including shippers, railroads and lessors
