Workforce Culture Initiatives

We believe that a sense of community and belonging is essential for creating an inclusive workplace. Our employee-led, executive-sponsored Employee Resource Groups provide a platform for employees to connect with others. Our ERGs include Women in Leadership; Consist: Pride at GATX; Embrace: BIPOC at GATX; and Brave: Veterans at GATX. All of our ERGs are open to all employees. These groups seek to engage employees in professional development, networking, community impact, and open dialogue and connection at GATX. We celebrate heritage and cultural months throughout the year with programming that highlights the contributions and experiences of various communities.
We recognize that education and awareness is a crucial component of building a more inclusive workplace. We support our employees’ learning through a comprehensive approach that includes organization-wide in person training as well as an extensive selection of e-learning opportunities. We also hold an annual Day of Understanding, where employees have the opportunity to participate in panels, workshops, and engage in open and honest discussions about inclusion.
